This will be an open network and anyone interested in the health and well-being of migrant workers from South Asia and South-East Asia are invited to join the network. A call for membership will be announced every three months on the network’s website and dedicated social media pages (mainly on Facebook and Twitter). The steering committee will decide on membership applications. Generally, network members should have undertaken work on some aspects of migrant workers. The likely members from non-academic and non-research background should have some links with migrant workers’ areas (people working in migrant-related organizations, policy-makers, media representatives, returnee migrant workers, recruitment agents etc.). Although we plan to include a majority of members from South Asia and South-East Asia, this will not restrict people from other parts of the world with interest in migrant workers’ health issues.

Initial members of the network will be primarily from the collaborating institutions Bournemouth University, UK (www.bournemouth.ac.uk), University of Huddersfield, UK (www.hud.ac.uk), Brighton and Sussex Medical School, UK (www.bsms.ac.uk), and Green Tara Nepal, Nepal (www.greentara.org.np). These institutions have worked collaboratively in a number of migration health research-related projects. They are likely to bring a range of expertise from many academic disciplines (including sociology, epidemiology, demography, public health, pharmacy, international health), sectors (e.g. media, policy advocacy) and also bring experience from national and international NGOs, national network, and international consortia.
Please see the ‘intended impact and impact goal’ section for how network members could be benefitted from the involvement.
